Investing in your Property

Whether you are installing a new kitchen in a new home, or renovating an existing kitchen, you’ll want to know how much it will all cost. There are four main factors to your renovation costs.

1. Kitchen Size

Firstly, a larger-sized kitchen will cost more than a smaller and medium-sized kitchen – requiring more cabinetry and stone material as well as labour to fit out your kitchen space. Our Professional Kitchen Designers can advise you on how to get the most value for your money!

2. Mechanical Choices

Secondly, there are many options for the mechanical used in your kitchen. Drawer runners, pantry drawers, lift-up overhead cabinets, and many more. We have all these options fitted into our display kitchens in our Kitchen Showrooms – this allows our clients to use and experience the many different types of mechanical before they make their selections.

3. Selection of Material & Style

Thirdly, with both cabinetry & stone benchtop options – you have a selection between the standard Range 1 options, luxury Range 5 options, and everything else in between. Naturally, if you require to keep your budget down, we suggest you select a Range 1 cabinetry & stone benchtop materials. If you find that you still have more in your budget to upgrade, you can opt to do so. Our experienced kitchen designers can show you around our showroom and explain to you all the many different options and ranges that the market has to offer.

Also, keep in mind that luxury upgrades such as Mitred Edge Waterfalls, Undermount Sinks, and Profiled Panels & Doors options will also bring up your kitchen renovation cost.

Here at QN Designs, we opt only to use materials and parts that are by reputable suppliers such as Laminex, Polytec, Blum, Silestone, Dekon, Essastone, and many more. Value for money is important to our customers. Therefore, we prefer to work with materials that are not only durable and will last but are also safe (E1, E0).

4. Trade Contractors

Lastly, no matter which path you decide to go down to renovate your kitchen, you will legally have to contract licensed tradesmen to carry out the required works. Over the past 16 years in business, QN Designs has built up a team of reliable tradesmen (electricians, plumbers, demolish & removals, roof supporter, ceiling gyprock, etc.) – we recommend them to you as we know they will do great work for a fair price. We allow all our customers to pay directly to our recommended tradesmen to avoid any middleman markup costs. For a standard complete kitchen renovation, the total cost of all these trade contractors can cost between $3000-$5000 depending on the scope of the works.

When comparing quotes you should always aim to “compare apples to apples”. To make sure you are getting the absolute most value for your money and that your kitchen quality will last for the many years to come. Our Professional Kitchen Designers can advise you on how to get as much enjoyment and value out of your new kitchen with your given budget.

Percentage Budget Estimate

When investing in a new kitchen or renovating an existing one, basing your budget range on the value of your home is a good starting point. Based on our experience and the recommendations of professional developers in the Australian market, a range of around 6-10% of your total home value should be dedicated to a new kitchen or total renovation.

  • For a $500,000 home, expect to spend around $30,000-$50,000
  • For a $750,000 home, expect to spend around $45,000-$75,000
  • For a $1,000,000 home, expect to spend around $60,000-$100,000
